Chasing stage victories, Alpecin-Deceuninck line up for the 2025 Tour de France with three-times Paris-Roubaix winner and former World Champion Mathieu van der Poel and nine-time Tour stage winner Jasper Philipsen leading the charge.
Van der Poel and Philipsen: chasing yellow and stage wins
Jasper Philipsen will target the flat stages and could even pull on yellow after stage one. For Mathieu van der Poel, the opportunities come on “punchy” and classics-style terrain—think stages 2, 4, 6 and 7. Stage 7’s finish on the Mûr-de-Bretagne is especially significant. Back in 2021, during his Tour debut, van der Poel took an emotional win there, claimed the yellow jersey, and held it for eight unforgettable days.
Veterans and first-timers ready to back the leaders
Backing up the team leaders are seasoned pros Gianni Vermeersch, Jonas Rickaert, Xandro Meurisse and Silvan Dillier—who lines up for his sixth Tour de France. There are also two Tour debutants: Kaden Groves, a Giro and Vuelta stage winner making his first appearance at the Tour, and Emiel Verstrynge. The 23-year-old Belgian, in his rookie season with Alpecin-Deceuninck’s WorldTeam, will focus on gaining experience and supporting on the tougher, hillier stages.
