2025 WorldTour: Race Calendar of the Pros
The World Tour race calendar for 2025 includes 36 races – one more than in 2024. The season kicks off with the stage race Tour Down Under in Australia, starting on January 21, 2025.
The 2025 cycling season is gearing up to deliver some thrilling races and intense showdowns on roads around the world. The WorldTour, the top-tier series in road cycling, features the year’s most prestigious races. Kicking things off is the Tour Down Under, happening from January 21 to 26 in Australia. This race in and around Adelaide offers a mix of flat stages and tough climbs.
The Opening Weekend marks the start of the classics season in Europe, especially in Belgium. On March 1, the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, the first WorldTour race, takes place. Just a week later, we have the first major highlight: the Strade Bianche on March 8 in Italy, a one-day race famous for its white gravel roads in Tuscany.
Right after that, Paris-Nice, also known as the “Race to the Sun,” runs from March 9 to 16, taking riders from the French capital to the sunny Mediterranean coast. At the same time, the Race of the Two Seas, Tirreno-Adriatico, happens from March 10 to 16, linking the Italian coasts through seven stages.
Time for the Monuments 1 – 4
On March 22, we have the first Monument and the longest one-day race of the WorldTour, Milan-Sanremo. It’s a huge highlight for sprinters and classics hunters. Will a breakaway succeed at the legendary Poggio, or will it come down to a sprint on the famous Via Roma?
Monument number 2, the Ronde van Vlaanderen, also known as the Tour of Flanders, follows on April 6 in Belgium. This race is famous for its cobbled sections (Kasseien) and steep climbs (Hellinge).
One week later, on April 13, we have Paris-Roubaix, the “Hell of the North,” with its brutal cobblestone sections (Pavés).
Spring wraps up with the Amstel Gold Race on April 20 through the hilly Limburg region in the Netherlands, followed by La Flèche Wallonne on April 23 in Belgium, traditionally ending on the steep Mur de Huy. Then there’s Liège-Bastogne-Liège on April 27, the oldest of the five Monuments and the “Mother of all Classics.”
Grand Tours
In May, the Giro d’Italia is on from May 10 to June 1, the first of the three Grand Tours of the year. This race offers a mix of flat stages, time trials, and tough mountain stages. In June, there’s the Critérium du Dauphiné from June 8 to 15 in France and the Tour de Suisse from June 15 to 22 in Switzerland, both key prep races for the Tour de France.
The biggest and most prestigious race in the world, the Tour de France, runs from July 5 to 27, drawing millions of fans each year. It starts in the Lille metropolitan area, and after last year’s detour to Nice, the finale is back in Paris.
In August, the Vuelta a España is on from August 23 to September 14, the last of the three Grand Tours, known for its steep climbs and hot weather.
Falling Leaves = Last Monument
The WorldTour season wraps up with Il Lombardia on October 11 in Italy, also known as the “Race of the Falling Leaves,” featuring a beautiful route around Lake Como.
Another big one-day race is the Road World Championships. In 2025, it will be held in Africa, specifically in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. On September 28, the best in cycling will face off here.
